This highly successful site employs c250 people and specialises in the design and manufacture of a diverse range of connectors and interconnect products for a highly demanding customer base in the Aerospace and Military sectors.

Poised for further growth, and investment, we are now seeking to recruit a Direct Buyer who will be responsible for all aspects of procurement activity associated with procuring a designated range of goods at optimum cost, delivered on time and to the required quality standard.

Key Responsibilities will include:


*Responsible for all transactional procurement activity associated with a designated range of category suppliers

*Accountability for day to day purchasing activities ensuring that parts are delivered on-time to suit customer requirements. From raising the Purchase order to the delivery of the product into stores ensuring availability for production within the required time-scales

*Interpreting drawings and specifications and following rules in order to conform with our accreditations

*Able to calculate batch sizes to both manage cost reduction, reduce in-house transactions whilst still optimising inventory levels to ensure product availability

*Liaise with Quality, Operations and Engineering to ensure quality standards are adhered too in supply of goods and services

*Liaising with the existing suppliers and seeking out opportunities to improve the supply chain

*Encourage a competitive and varied supply market and apply best practice tools and techniques to analyse spend and gain maximum strategic and tactical advantage

*To manage supplier relationships in a strategic manner to ensure continuity of supply and ensure commercial terms are suitable for the long term aims of Amphenol Ltd

*Promote supplier relationship management and actively engage with key suppliers to address issues and identify potential opportunities to further develop collaboration and deliver continuous improvement of supplier performance (e.g. Costs, Service and Quality)

*Develop key supplier performance measures and reporting that will be used to monitor both supplier and Amphenol performance

*To provide appropriate procurement input to New Product Introduction projects and ensure that a robust supply chain is in place from initial launch to long term security of supply

*To contribute to the development of detailed specifications for goods and services and develop new sources of supply where it is advantageous to the company

*To manage tender and negotiation process for new contracts and contract renewals

*To review all aspects of performance from your supplier base and to issue monthly reports detailing actions taken to obviate any failures or threats to the business; this would include Adverse Purchase Price Variance, Adverse OTIF and PPM



Essential Qualities include:



*GCSE English & Maths, or equivalent, Grade C or above
*Strong Purchasing awareness and negotiation skills
*Experience in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
*Knowledge of Supply Chain Practices
*Strong Purchasing background with experience in Procurement in an Engineering environment
*Engineering background
*Proven track record of cost savings and vendor performance improvement
*Strong Vendor Management skills
*Solid background in supply management, with strong discipline in supplier cost avoidance


Desirable Qualities include:



*A Level English & Maths, or equivalent, Grade C or above
*Engineering or Business Management degree
*CIPS qualified
*Experience in MRP base systems professionalism in attitude, conduct and communication
*Manufacturing background
*Experience of MAPICS XA an advantage
