This is an exciting time to join us at Maidstone Borough Council as we have been awarded funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as part of the Governments Rough Sleeping Initiative directly aimed to reduce those living on the streets.

We are looking for a Homeless Outreach Team Leader who will support the Outreach Services Manager for Maidstone Borough Council in relation to rough sleeping and street population issues. The role will include line management of the assertive outreach team, partnership liaison with both internal and external stakeholders and the ability to think creatively to achieve real and lasting outcomes for those living on the streets.

The role requires an excellent understanding of the issues facing individuals who have complex needs, and the post holder must be able to communicate with a wide audience and have an exceptional communication style, which is persuasive and dynamic in their delivery of ideas.

The post holder will also need to be able to set, monitor and review Performance Indicators, develop a collaborative approach to partnerships across the district and be able to work with minimal supervision to ensure an excellent level of customer service.

Some weekends, evenings and early mornings work is required and this includes an out of hour’s rota.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Council considers that the successful applicant will have access to young people and/or vulnerable adults and it is a requirement under The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 that you hold an enhanced disclosure and barring scheme check. Upon successful appointment, you will be required to provide evidence of an enhanced DBS check if you subscribe to the DBS Update Service or complete the process to obtain a DBS check.

This is a full time position on a fixed term contract for 12 months with the view of this extending for a further 12 months until July 2020.
