Music & Liturgy Secretary (21 hours per week – 6 Months Fixed Term)

£ 12,224 per annum (paid pro rata)

Canterbury, Kent

The Dean and Chapter of Canterbury

The Music & Liturgy Secretary is responsible for assisting in the arrangement of liturgy in the Cathedral, producing service sheets, administering liturgical events and bookings and providing a high level of administrative support to the M&L team.

2020 is an exciting year for the Music & Liturgy department at Canterbury Cathedral. In July we will be holding the celebration of Becket2020 (The 850th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Thomas Becket and the 800th Anniversary of the Consecration of his shrine) and the Lambeth Conference, the ten-yearly meeting of the worlds Anglican Bishops. The Music & Liturgy Secretary will have a significant part to play in these events of international importance.

Candidates will be experienced administrators who can work autonomously and under pressure. You must have excellent organisational and IT skills and be familiar with ecclesiastical terminology. Familiarity with musical terms and notation is desirable as is an understanding of the ethos of the Cathedral.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications: Thursday 20th February 2020
