Children's Occupational Therapist

£28,925 - £38,913 per annum (Salary dependent on experience and progression through the Career Grade is based on the fulfilment of required capabilities)

We require a full time Occupational Therapist in our Disabled Children's Service.

Base is : Worrall House, Kings Hill Covering Maidstone and Tonbridge & Malling areas.

You must be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC: have a full knowledge of legislation and policies for the provision of services to disabled children and their carers; have competent clinical assessment and reasoning skills; effective written and verbal communication; you should be able to plan, organise and evaluate your workload; be self motivated, work well in a team and with other professionals and outside agencies.

The Children's OT team are co located with Social Workers. Together we work closely with Social Workers to facilitate care packages, and OT reports on short break and fostering placements, and co-operating with Children in Need and Safeguarding Children Plans.

For this role your duties will be to manage a caseload providing assessment and advice and equipment/adaptations for disabled children and their families within their own homes. You will also be providing support and advice to carers, other professionals, and partner organisations. A significant part of our role is to assess for needs in accordance with Disability Facilities Grant legislation.

We are in the process of scoping that our Children's OT service now extends to young people up to 25 years of age.

Pay range is £28,925 - £38,913 KR9 -10. Progression is achieved through annual evaluation and the KCC Social Care Capabilities Framework.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and a relevant professional qualification (Occupational Therapy) as well as up to date registration with the appropriate professional body.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
