Hours: 37.5 per week

Shift: Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm. Flexibility Required.

Salary: Up to £28,000 depending on experience.

Location: Based at Head Office/Home covering all of Medway and Kent.

We have an exciting and rare opportunity; we are looking to recruit for a brand-new role of HOUSING AND COMPLIANCE SUPPORT OFFICER to support the Quality and Compliance Development Manager and Housing Manager.

The Kent Autistic Trust is a well-respected specialist provider of services for adults with autism, with Good and Outstanding ratings from CQC. We support over 120 people with autism, learning disabilities and related difficulties. We provide residential homes, supported living accommodation, day resource service and respite and outreach services (from peoples own home) in Medway and across Kent. We provide a wide range of service designed to meet the diverse needs of the people we support.

Following an internal promotion, we are looking to recruit a HOUSING AND COMPLIANCE SUPPORT OFFICER. The role will involve travelling to our establishments to carry out Health and Safety checks, audits, and inspections. You will need an investigative mind and an ability to evaluate ways of reducing potential risks.

This role will be a great opportunity for someone who is looking for progression to expand their Health and Safety knowledge in our new Housing and Compliance Support Office role. It will be a role that you will be able to develop and make your own.

Key Responsibilities of the Housing and Compliance Support Office: -

o Carry out Health and Safety Checks, Risk Assessments and Site Inspections
o Provide support at Health and Safety meetings
o Liaise with external safety authorities.
o Manage relationships with landlords, contractors, and utilities.
o Build and maintain excellent relationships with all staff at the Trust, in particular establishment managers and their staff teams.
o Compiling and analyse complex date and present that clearly and accurately.
o Keep up to date with health and safety legislation and any changes that may affect the care sector.
o Supporting and preparing managers for CQC inspections.
o Safety monitoring
o Checking and auditing of fleet vehicles
o Housing inspections
o Identifying risks and determining and recommending ways to reduce them
o Hold a full clean driving licence and the use of your own car.
o A suitable level of fitness as the job will include investigative activities that may be physically demanding.


Experience and Qualifications

The successful Housing and Compliance Support Officer candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

Essential:

o At least 2 years of experience in a relevant housing and/or health and social care setting
o Good numeracy skills and attention to detail
o Proficient MS Word and Excel knowledge
o Experience and skills in monitoring and analysing data and producing detailed and accurate reports.
o Excellent interpersonal skills with a sensitive, diplomatic approach and a commitment to building and maintaining excellent working relationships with staff at all levels, and to be consistently approachable and supportive.
o Excellent time management skills with a structured and systematic approach and the ability to manage pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
o A full clean driving license is required
o Flexibility as the role will require frequent travel


Desirable:

o Experience of supporting staff teams with CQC inspections.
o A relevant health and social care or healthcare qualification.
o Experience of working in a specialist autism service
o Experience of working in a setting that supports adults with challenging behaviour.
o Experience of undertaking audits of health and social care services for compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Regulations (2014)
o Experience in quality and health, safety and environmental management systems
o Experience with housing management of supported properties.
o Good knowledge of understanding of budgets.
o Experience of managing contractors and liaising between staff and housing manager.
