If you have a passion to support students in making plans for their future giving career guidance, placement and employability advice, as well as have previous experience of management duties, we would welcome your application for the divisional role of Employability & Placements Manager.

The education and employability of our students lies at the centre of the University's strategy. The Employability & Placements Manager is responsible for embedding the employability strategy by providing a high-level professional support service to students through a placement and employability offering aimed at improving their graduate outcomes and employment prospects.

The role holder will work in close liaison with the University's central Careers & Employability Service (CES) and be placed in our Division for the study of Law, Society and Social Justice.

As Employability & Placements Manager you will:

lead wider employability initiatives for students within the Division and liaise with CES, employers and other external stakeholders to provide and promote opportunities for students
promote placement, work experience and internship programmes internally and externally
identify and prioritise opportunities for enhancements to employability, careers and placements processes through analysis and monitoring of service delivery, using relevant management information and data to ensure an efficient, effective and consistent service delivery
lead, motivate and develop relevant staff, providing clear objectives and managing performance against these, to ensure that staff are appropriately motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

experience of working in career guidance, placement or employability setting
experience of public speaking, specifically relating to orally presenting information to a varied audience
experience of providing pastoral care and a commitment to delivering and promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity in the day to day work of the role
proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a wide-ranging workload with competing priorities
