This exciting opportunity is to join our Information Services department as an Associate IT Security Technician. As part of the IT Operations and Service Delivery section in Information Services, you will work to ensure the University’s current and future IT Infrastructure requirements are met, maintaining the best possible service security state and uptime.

You will assist within the team establishing a new SOC, defining a security monitoring programme, security incident handling procedures, IT security best practices and liaising with staff across the University to ensure systems are maintained in line with IT security policies. Working closely with colleagues in other teams you will ensure the infrastructure is suitable to support a wide range of systems.

As an Associate IT Security Technician you will support the IT Security Lead to:

Analyse various system reports and dashboards for potential security issues.
Perform risk assessments and highlight the most important issues to colleagues
Track issues and ensure serious issues are addressed
Work with staff across the University to help resolve security issues with their IT equipment
Maintain and promote suitably secure systems and processes to protect the University data and comply with current legislation
Contribute to the success of the Operations And Service Delivery section and to maintain a mature, supportive, and proactive team culture
To succeed in this role you will:

Be educated GCSE Maths & English (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Have experience working in an IT environment in an IT support/security role.
Have an awareness of current security issues, threats and attack modes.
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of staff who may not be confident in their IT or security knowledge.
