IT Support Technician

£30,000.00 - £35,000.00 per annum

Sandwich, Kent

New Appointments Group

Our client is based in York, but have a small lab in Sandwich, Kent at the Discovery Park site. They are looking to recruit an IT support technician to be their local IT resource, but given the size of their operation, they need someone who is an all-rounder since they'll be involved in absolutely anything and everything (from PC support, to server maintenance and everything in between).

Hours of work are 37.5 per week Monday to Friday - Core hours are 9am - 5pm however they are happy to be flexible, some of the work may need to be done after the labs empty out if it's server maintenance, or could be some of the lab needs work doing first thing before the day starts - in which case early finishes & late starts are happily accommodated.

Reporting in to the IT Manager who is based in York, however will likely have a lot of input and schedules of work guided by the scientists on site and projects they have running.

Our client has a team of 20 scientists on site, each with a PC, they also have another 30 PC's that link to the lab equipment, so 50 in total. Have 4 servers each with a different purpose on site too (one controls the Database, one controls the lab equipment etc.

Anyone who shows an interest in science is of interest, but not expecting someone to come from a scientific back ground, looking for a good all-rounder who will be able to handle simple requests to fix a mouse or a broken keyboard, through to dealing with the database running slowly, or the ordering of PC's on mass to arrange a company update on equipment, through to why one PC system isn't drawing the right information from another.

Anyone who might show an interest in how the robots work and want to learn more, they are happy to develop to support further within the business.

Interviews, first will be on Teams with IT Manager and someone from the Discovery Park site, second will be on site with IT Manager, and shall include a tour of the site, meet the team.

If you are interested in discussing this role in more detail, please apply in the first instance with your current, up to date CV, preferably in word format.
