Principal Hardware Engineer - Rochester - Hybrid - £60,000 to £65,000 (D.o.E) + enhanced rates for overtime

Our client, a leading defense, marine, and aerospace company, is seeking a talented Principal Hardware Engineer to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will execute complex hardware design tasks, contribute to innovative solutions, and play a key part in the development of cutting-edge technologies.

What you'll be doing:

* Execute complex hardware design tasks, ensuring adherence to the development plan, timelines, and budgets.
* Conduct hardware requirements capture, preliminary design, and detailed design, including various analysis tasks.
* Bring an innovative approach to design, constantly seeking improvements to working practices.
* Provide technical guidance and support to the team, leveraging your expertise.
* Coach and develop the skills of junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
* Deliver design artifacts in compliance with industry standards and company requirements.
* Assume people management responsibilities, adding leadership to your role.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

* Degree/HND in electronics engineering or an equivalent qualification.
* Extensive working knowledge and experience in digital and/or analogue electronics technologies.
* Proven track record in successfully navigating the engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certification.
* Robust understanding of product design and work package control.

Desirable:

* Proficiency in Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise.
* Familiarity with analogue simulation tools such as Simetrix or Spice.
* Experience with system development tools like Enterprise Architect, Matlab, Simulink.
* Familiarity with management tools like DOORS.
