Purpose of the role
To assist the Beat Team in the day to day management of a Community Woodland in Gravesend. To provide a regular Ranger presence on sites through daily site checks and encourage and support active community involvement through consultation, events and activities, practical projects and environmental education. To enable a diverse range of people to become involved in decision-making and management of their local environment.

Key Work Areas
1. Site presence: Act as the face for our client on site, providing a regular visible site presence and taking every opportunity to engage with members of the public whilst on site. You will be answering queries and following up feedback, keeping the Beat Manager aware of comments and actions.
2. Site Maintenance and Management: Ensure site facilities are well maintained and safe through daily documented inspections and carrying out practical repairs and maintenance tasks. Ensure sites are well presented, undertaking site litter picking as required.
3. Delivery of a Community Engagement Programme: Actively engage with a diverse range of individuals and groups in the local community by delivering and assisting with a programme of events and activities agreed with the Beat Manager
Experience of working in a public facing role.
Desirable: Experience of supporting and developing community and volunteer groups. Experience of working on environmental projects and/or conservation work. Experience of making presentations, leading walks and organising events. Experience of working with disadvantaged communities.
