Simulator Maintenance Engineer.

Based in Canterbury, Rail Training International (RTI) is an established rail industry training and competence consultancy and we are looking to recruit for our simulator maintenance, IT and electronic/electrical engineering team. We pride ourselves on the value-for-money that we offer our customers and we’re looking for high quality individuals to maintain and develop RTI’s reputation within the rail industry.

The role involves using your IT (Windows based systems) and electronic/electrical fault-finding skills utilizing schematics and other engineers’ experience to diagnose and rectify faults on train simulators used to train drivers. Your developed fault-finding skills plus the ability to work alone to exacting standards in a timely manner with accurate documentation and your strong inter-personal skills will be used when interacting with our clients during the course of your duties.

Your place of work will be our Canterbury office. However, you will be expected to travel to client sites (predominantly by train) throughout the UK and Ireland.

Key Skills
• The ability to read, interpret and act on schematic wiring diagrams to aid fault diagnosis (Power, A/V, Networking & Ancillaries').
• Logical and demonstrable fault-finding skills on complex systems.
• Strong knowledge of Windows based computers (PC’s & laptops) including operating systems and hardware fault diagnosis and replacement.
• Computer networking skills – static, dynamic, subnets. Wifi, LAN & WAN.
• Cabling fault finding for audio, video, networking and power distribution within the simulator
• DIY skills for tasks that may involve assembling. mounting / repairing equipment hardware related to the simulator.

• Excellent communication / documentation skills – including work planning & scheduling of tasks.
• Self-motivated.
• As a lone worker, aware of safe working practices for their own and others safety.
• Be able to pass CTC vetting, formerly known as positive vetting. A security background check.
• Be prepared to tested and pass random drugs & alcohol testing whilst on client’s sites if requested (To adhere to client policies on D&A).
