Are you an experienced finance professional with strong accounting expertise? Do you thrive in a role where accuracy, organisation and problem‑solving are essential? We are recruiting a Finance Officer/Accounts Assistant to join a well‑established housing organisation based near Orpington, Kent, committed to delivering high‑quality, well‑managed and affordable homes. The role will be a FTC 6-month contract circa 40k pro rata.

As the Finance Officer/Accounts Assistant, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records across rent, bought, nominal and sales ledgers. You will be responsible for maintaining tenant and leaseholder accounts, managing rent debits and increases, and ensuring all financial transactions are processed efficiently and correctly.
Key responsibilities include:Rent Ledger

* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date rent ledger information, including tenancy set‑ups, changes, and terminations.
* Implement correct rent debit charges and complete period‑end processing.
* Process daily rent payments and reconcile rent accounts weekly.
* Set up and maintain charges and direct debit mandates.
* Prepare and review rent increase data and notification letters.
* Run, analyse and update Excel‑based rent reports.

Bought Ledger

* Maintain the bought ledger, processing invoices and payment details daily.
* Prepare weekly cheque and BACs payment runs for authorisation.
* Manage contractor and supplier account details.
* Monitor and clear the invoice register and resolve credit control queries.

Nominal & Sales Ledger

* Prepare and post journals.
* Maintain nominal ledger accounts.
* Review and input credit card statements.
* Reconcile bank accounts.
* Raise recharge and sundry sales invoices and monitor debt collection.

You will also work collaboratively with the wider finance team and provide absence cover where required.
What you'll need to succeed
Good all-round bookkeeping skills. Experience of working in a similar role. Housing experience a benefit.
