Overview
A small, friendly and well‑established business just outside of Tunbridge Wells is looking for a NEW Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, this position plays an important role in the day‑to‑day running of the finance function. A warm, welcoming and collaborative environment with genuine flexibility and autonomy.
This role is part‑time, working 3 days per week, 8am to 2pm (18 hours).
Salary is dependent on experience/qualifications.

Duties
Overseeing invoice processing, authorisation and payment runs
Assisting with credit control and debtor follow up where required
Preparing prepayments and accruals
Supporting with month‑end journals
Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
Helping maintain accurate and up to date general ledger postings
Supplier statement reconciliations and resolving supplier queries
Bank, credit card and petty cash reconciliations
Posting daily bank transactions
Assisting with preparation of quarterly VAT returns
Processing staff expenses
Supporting cashflow forecasting
Assisting the Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis and project work

What we're looking for
A successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate solid experience in a similar role, with confidence handling month‑end tasks, reconciliations and hands‑on accounts work. You must live within a 45 minute commute of Tunbridge Wells and have access to your own vehicle.
