Commercial Manager, London, £60,000 - £70,000
I am recruiting for a niche contractor within the construction industry. They are an established, well respected and growing business. Since 2013 they have almost doubled their turnover and this growth looks like continuing. The senior management team are extremely experienced and well connected within their industry. This position has arisen due to a retirement within the senior management team and it is intended that you will have a 12-18 month handover, working alongside the exiting senior manager in order to develop the necessary industry knowledge and relationships. The exiting senior manager is very much a company man, so is fully committed to pass on all of his experience, which is over 25 years worth!
The project values within this business vary from £500K right up to £4m and their customers range from TClarke, Mace, Skanska and Imtech.
The role:
The 2 Directors will be responsible for the tender process, however your role will come into play post contract stage and will involve:
* Ensuring the contract is correct
* Overseeing all projects
* Managing the application / IPC process for all projects
* Final Accounts on all projects
* Actively assisting on site when projects are falling behind
You will be given full autonomy within this role and my client is happy for you to come in an improve processes and procedures.
Once you are in post my client plan to roll-out a new software system, which you will also be heavily involved in.
The right candidate will have/be:
* A proven and solid background with the construction industry
* An extensive background working as a QS
* Innovative with the ability to improve processes and procedures
* Ambitious to develop you career within this business. There is a clear path to Commercial Director for the right candidate
* Analytical, numerate with a keen eye for detail
* Strong interpersonal and communications skills, able to develop solid relationships with clients and staff
This is a fantastic role and there is a real opportunity for the right person to become a Director and potentially a shareholder in the future.
