The IT and Infrastructure Team

There has been an IT team as long as Holiday Extras has been around. We have a team of 11, made up of helpdesk support, telephony support and infrastructure support who look after all aspects of IT from desktop support to networking, repairs and servers (the list goes on!). We’re also responsible for ensuring we have wicked IT systems across the group. Our sole purpose in life is to make sure our systems are fast, smooth, cutting edge and up 100% of the time so our customers, both internally to the group and externally, always have a smooth visit 24x7.

We are a key part of the business delivering the highest quality service and systems to our customers both inside and outside using new types of technologies on our sites and systems, so there is always the opportunity to innovate and play with cool stuff. We are looking for a System Engineer who has been responsible for developing and maintaining core systems and services.

We have a wide range of servers from Linux to Windows, all running in our 4 data centers and in the cloud. We also have a number of Juniper networking products from switches (EX) to firewalls (SRX), which you’ll have the opportunity to work on. We’re all about automation and self healing servers so you will be helping to making this happen by using cool stuff like Chef, Cloudformation and other tools. Your growing expertise will be called on by all parts of the business to assist with projects and ideas alongside making sure the current infrastructure runs like a well oiled machine. You’ll be joining our hardcore team of engineer’s who support the Holiday Extras Group 24x7x365 and but don’t worry we will give you plenty of training and a phone!

We’re looking for someone with:

A background in System Administration / DevOps
A good understanding of Linux (Ubuntu / Centos)
Amazon Web Services / Google Cloud Platform
Configuring and installing Microsoft Active Directory
Windows Server administration experience
An inquisitive, probing and innovative nature
The drive for a career in SysAdmin / DevOps
The ability to quickly change focus, prioritise and organise own workload
A keen interest in Networking
Strong communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical people
A level head in pressure situations
Curiosity to experiment and eagerness learn new technologies
Scripting Skills (Bash)


Would be good to have interest, or experience in any of the following:

Logging Platforms such as SumoLogic
Monitoring Systems such as Zabbix / Nagios
Google Sync / ADFS
Mac OS
