W.E Roberts (Corrugated) has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Generalist HR Advisor to help cover the maternity leave of one of the HR team at our site in Northfleet. This key role will involve being the first point of contact for staff and Line/Dept Managers, and working closely with the HR team to help ensure the smooth running of the Dept and performance Management of staff within the Company.
What being a HR Advisor at W.E Roberts (Corrugated) will involve:
In this role you will be responsible for helping to manage; the resourcing for the Company, on-boarding new starters, absence management, maternity & paternity leave, disciplinary issues as well as dealing with performance management issues with staff. As it is a small team there will be a wide variety of work with scope to get involved with lots of projects. You will also get involved with H&S and in helping to drive a positive safety culture through the business so previous experience with this would be a benefit.
Key elements of the role involve:
• Learning & Development;
• Coaching of Line Managers will be a key part of the role;
• Employee Relations;
• Recruitment and Selection;
• HR Projects and Administration;
• Producing HR Metrics and Data to enable us to make key decisions.
Other specific duties and tasks are as follows:
• To assist and coach Line/Dept Managers in the assessment, development, motivation and management of employees, ensuring that objectives are set and performance appraisals are conducted for each member of the team and ensuring that all have the appropriate skill set to achieve their objectives and are competent in their roles.
• To develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with employees, managers, suppliers and other third parties demonstrating professional credibility at all times and providing an excellent HR service to the business.
• To be responsible for recruitment and selection activities, including developing job descriptions, advertising of vacancies to source suitable candidates and for liaising with applicants and line managers to assist with the process & conducting interviews ensuring that costs are minimised.
• On-board new starters arranging contracts and delivering new starter inductions
• Taking day to day ownership of transactional HR elements
• Acting as the first point of contact in handling employee relations issues
• Providing learning and development support to the business, including identifying training gaps and compiling development plans
• Advising on legislation and ensuring that policies, processes and procedures are applied fairly and consistently across the business
• To manage the implementation of a number of identified HR projects to ensure that the HR department supports the business in the achievement of its strategy, ensuring also that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
We need a HR Advisor that is able to build relationships with staff at all levels, passionate about learning & development and is able to hit the ground running!
What we would like our candidate to have:
• 2 years’ experience working in HR ideally with previous experience in an industrial environment is desirable i.e. production, construction or trades.
• Up to date knowledge of UK employment legislation and how to apply it
• Strong leadership/management experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ideally educated to degree level and studying for the CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification is essential
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Experience in providing advice and support to managers.
• Good interviewing skills and a proven ability to select the right candidates for roles
• Experience of identifying development needs and performance management and feedback.
• Ability to demonstrate confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with all issues of business, especially when handling sensitive situations and information.
• A confident communicator (both verbal and written) with a personable and professional manner and the ability to interact and relate to all levels of staff and build strong working relationships.
• Good judgement and decision making skills.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, good time management and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• A good team player
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a rapidly changing environment and respond to different demands.
• High energy and enthusiasm, results orientated and able to deliver to deadlines.
• Computer literate with MS Office skills.
