GKR Scaffolding is an award winning scaffolding and access specialist, working on the most iconic construction projects in London and the South East. Due to expansion and growth we currently have exciting opportunities within our Transport and Logistics department. We are looking for a Transport and Logistics Manager and an Assistant transport and Logistics Manager to join our team based in Kent.

GKR Scaffolding are market leaders in safety when working at height, creating processes and inventing tools that are now widely adopted by the rest of the industry.

Job Summary:

The Transport and Logistics management team are responsible for the productivity and efficiency of the Yard and all its staff, which includes drivers and yard operatives, ensuring that tasks carried out fulfil the requirements of the business and specific projects throughout the UK whilst adhering to the latest codes of practice, UK regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Managing day to day operations of the yard in receiving, ordering & storing, stacking, loading & dispatching of various materials as required.
• The control, maintenance and optimisation of the distribution network.
• Planning labour accordingly to ensure all areas are resourced as necessary and are in line with current business and specific project needs.
• Prioritising work and alter the work schedule to account for changing priorities during the workday or week.
• Ensuring drivers comply with drivers’ hours and tachograph rules and regulations.
• Supervising and coordinating activities of yard staff engaged in loading, unloading and transferring scaffolding materials.
• Monitoring productivity within the yard and drive performance as needed.
• Monitoring all operating expenses in line with company guidelines and ensuring cost control.
• Undertaking any and all reasonable duties as required to maintain the Company’s FORS accreditation and protecting our O Licence.
• Establish a sound method of compilation of all vehicle records, ensuring accuracy and adhering to storage regulations.


What you need to succeed:
• Experience working at management level within a similar environment
• OLAT qualification desirable
• Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (Level 3) - desired
• Strong leadership and managerial skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt language to suit target audience as necessary
• Proactive planning and problem-solving capabilities
• Understanding of business goals and strategy
• Approachable and able to motivate staff, recognising potential for development
• Flexible, thorough and able to work to tight deadlines
• Able to take on responsibility and make informed decisions
• Ability to set goals and drive productivity performance to ensure they are achieved.
• Responsible and reliable
• Good IT skills.
• Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project/site needs
