Located just a mile from Tonbridge Town Centre, Barnes Lodge is a stunning residential home that opened in 2016, set in established trees on the outskirts of Tonbridge.

Barnes Lodge offers person centred residential care on a respite or permanent basis within our retirement community, and sits alongside Rosewell House Extra Care Housing Scheme, a scheme comprising 59 apartments and promoting independent living for over 55s.

Barnes Lodge highly trained staff are committed to caring for the residents as though they are an extended family member, getting to know them and supporting them to live life to the fullest.

The home has vacancies for a Social Activities Facilitator, who will provide our residents with creative, enjoyable activities in keeping with person centred care and support needs in a way that respects the dignity of the individual, boosts their confidence and promotes their independence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

o Devising an activity programme responsive to client needs.
o Participate in audit programmes and satisfaction surveys to gather information for the continued improvement of the service.
o Liaising with and assist the Home Manager, Seniors and Care staff with reference to activity programme.
o Liaising with outside agencies for the purpose of promoting the activities within the home.
o Keeping records to demonstrate progress with activity programme and participation of residents.
o Assisting with the development of standards and policies for activities.
o Undertaking relevant training to maintain professional development.
o Assisting with fundraising events.
o Working with all staff towards agreed policies and standards of care in keeping with the stated beliefs of the Organisation.
o Working to promote equality and diversity, and eliminate discrimination for all the Organisations service users, staff and volunteers.
o Taking part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed.
o Taking part in individual performance reviews as required


The ideal Social Activities Facilitator will demonstrate

o A caring and compassionate approach
o Patience and understanding of older people
o Knowledge of or a willingness to be trained in the correct procedures for carrying out all of their duties including use of moving and handling equipment
o An understanding of Health and Safety
o Good communication skills with different groups, e.g. staff, residents, local community
o Understanding of different values / cultures of residents and staff
o Team working skills
o Good timekeeping skills
o Professionalism


The ideal Social Activities Facilitator will have the ability to:

o Play an active role in creating a good environment
o Prioritise their work
o Be aware of the support needed by others, consider how they can support them and encourage and support them
o Train for and take on additional responsibilities
o Listen carefully and attentively
o Respect the dignity and privacy of all those they come into contact with
o Apply their knowledge and training in the workplace
o Uphold the policies and procedures of The Organisation
o Promote a positive image of the Organisation.
o Work to promote equality and diversity, and eliminate discrimination for all the Organisations service users, staff and volunteers.
