Trainee CAD Operator

Senseco Systems is one of the industry’s fastest growing most successful Fire and Security companies, based in Gillingham, Kent. The demands of the business currently, mean that we need a Trainee CAD Operator to join our Design team.

As a Trainee CAD operator, you will learn how to produce accurate, high quality drawings for the projects department, compiled from site sketches or architectural building layouts. A basic working knowledge of AutoCAD software is desired, with great attention to detail. This role is office based, you will also be required to attend various working sites on occasion (mainly in London).

The successful applicant will embark on our in-house training scheme, enhancing their AutoCAD knowledge and general training in our business and how it operates to include fire alarm design principles and site visits with our onsite teams.

The Trainee CAD operator will embark on a training programme, to encompass the following key areas –

Once trained you will carry out the following duties;
• Use CAD systems for production of all drawings
• Compile layout drawings for approval, construction and record purposes
• Developing system schematic diagrams
• Production of equipment and Interface schedules
• Monitoring collaboration websites and liaising with architect/consultants/trade contractors for changes and updating design documents and drawings accordingly.
• Attendance of site design/coordination/progress meetings as required
• Attendance of client Factory Witness Tests as required
• Site Surveys and installation verification as required
• Preparation of design documentation ready for commissioning

Skills Requirements:
• Computer literate, basic working experience of AutoCAD
• Good written, oral and numerical skills. Excellent telephone manner.
• Excellent attitude towards career development.
• Excellent organisational skills, as you will at short notice be asked to oversee and deal with several items requiring the skillset of an organised individual.
• Ability to work as a team member, but on your own when required.
• Ability and desire to learn the legal and regulatory compliance for the Fire Industry.

You must have a Grade C or above in English Maths, at GCSE level. Excellent IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook. Proven verbal and written English communication skills. Desire to find solutions to problems within deadlines. Proven ability to organise self and others Methodical with attention to detail. Ideally a working knowledge of AutoCAD either in 2D or 3D would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be given.
