My client is a Medway based, multi site services business is looking to recruit a Financial Controller to head up the finance team of a £35m turnover business.
The brief set will be to offer informed business advice to the management team, working with them on strategy and having a real input on the future growth of the business. On a day to day basis, there`s an understanding that improvements and efficiency`s could be made. Many of the processes have been in place for a number of years and there is the prospect to shape the set-up of the finance function to your own preferences; arguably more so than in most comparative roles. That won`t come without its challenges but for the right person, you`ll relish that opportunity. In terms of the day to day, you`ll be responsible for the overseeing of the management accounts pack, assisting with operational commentary and refining the KPI`s produced to ensure they best assist the decision making across the broader business. You`ll manage the whole annual budgeting and forecasting
process and take a lead in all statutory reporting requirements.
As an individual you`ll be as at home in the finance team as you are working with other internal departments within the business, with the credibility and gravitas to do so. Understanding exactly what those different teams need from finance and educating them as to how they can help you is key. You`ll be fully qualified (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) with the requisite ambition and drive to help the business move into the next stage of its development. You`ll have first class IT skills, able to deliver the efficiency`s that might exist within the current set up. Experience in contract driven business is important, but those from a product or service business, with a focus on sales and margins equally valued.
