Job Description:

We are looking to employ a highly-skilled Bench Joiner / Cabinet Maker / Chargehand Joiner to join our factory team. The successful candidate will need to be capable of working to an exceptionally high standard and have experience in training apprentices. Attention to detail is paramount and the successful candidate must be able to adapt to a very clean and structured factory environment.

Duties will include all aspects of cabinet making, joinery and any other relevant duties as required. Site installation experience of the cabinetry you would have manufactured is also beneficial. Must be able to competently follow and understand technical drawings. During busy periods the candidate may be required to work extra hours (sometimes at short notice). These will be paid on a time-and-a-quarter basis of the agreed hourly rate.

Key tasks:

The successful candidate will work with the Production Manager, manufacturing projects to specified deadlines, while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Candidates will be required to work with the Hartwood team maintaining a safe and clean workshop, in line with the company’s health and safety policy.

Desired skills & expertise:

5 years experience within the trade preferred, however, not essential.

Experience in training apprentices and conducting appraisals.

Must be process-driven with excellent time management skills.

Must have a methodical approach to work and an eye for detail.

Clean and presentable.

Solid Surface fabrication experience preferred (not essential as training could be provided)

First aid qualified / willing to take course.

Willing to share best practice.

A clean full UK driver’s licence.

Punctual, extremely reliable and a real team player.

Possess the ability to solve problems and be proactive, innovative and flexible.

Able to produce their own cutting sheets from a CAD drawing (if required during busy periods)

Able to operate some woodworking machines (if required during busy periods)

Willing to drive the company van to site on occasions (if required during busy periods)

Willing to work Saturdays (6:00am - 12:00pm) (if required during busy periods)

Note to candidate:

Hartwood Joinery is based at a 25,000 sq ft premises in Ashford, Kent, with modern machinery and state-of-the-art workshop facilities. Successful candidates will be provided with their own full workstation bay, complete with personal tool storage. Insurance is provided for personal tools on site to a value of fifteen hundred pounds. A fully branded company uniform will be provided as well as on-site parking. Hartwood Joinery’s Company Handbook and Contract would be issued to the successful candidate and must be adhered to.
