Title – Warehouse Operative with responsibilities for Cabling Product Testing and Assembly

Salary – £8.50-£9.50 p/h

Job summary:

40 hours per week
Warehouse responsibilities will include:
Inventory management of cables and Networking Products
Ensuring stock booked in and out according to Purchase orders and picking lists
Maintaining and organizing the warehouse in line with agreed procedures and processes via the Sage Accounting System
Loading and unloading of lorries and container deliveries
This work can be physically demanding so the candidate needs to have a good level of physical fitness

The successful candidate will also be required to work in the testing and manufacturing department where training will be given for the following:
Cable Assembly
Product Testing
Network Fault Finding
PC Assembly
Other PC/Network related Products
With a view to this, the candidate should have an active interest, and basic knowledge of, business computing and/or computer networks.

The Candidate will be need to be flexible and may be required to work in other
departments and serve customers at the trade counter

Budget responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the replenishment and ordering of consumables required by
the Warehouse.
Accounting for component parts used in the assembly of custom made products.


Accountability

1.1.Take responsibility for the security of goods from the point of receipt and
ensure stock is booked in in a timely manner and is located in its correct
storage area. Pick, pack and dispatch goods according to customer order.

1.2.Work unsupervised, using own initiative in all areas, adhering to published and
inferred standards, policies and procedures

Communication and Relationship

2.1.Implement and manage inventory in the warehouse , acting as the primary
point of contact and attending department meetings when required.

2.2. To review and resolve all discrepancies concerning stock by liaising with
customer , supplier , purchasing and accounts Departments as appropriate . To
advise on appropriate action for uplifts and return policies and to implement as
necessary

2.3.To be responsible for the successful management of the relationship between
purchasing and sales staff and the warehouse through regular contact with
managers and to identify,resolve and report on stock issues

2.4.To provide information on usage trends, stock levels, product range and
stock management procedures to managers and purchasing staff


Planning and organizational

3.1.To plan and organize the warehouse, to provide a tidy and safe working
environment, in line with company requirements and input data as required
on to the computerized accounting and stock management system.

3.2.To receive deliveries to managed areas, checking for accuracy, unpacking and
locating goods from the orders

3.3.To perform regular stock checks and cycle counts in line with company policy
and to ensure accurate stock levels, usage and wastage is recorded.



3.4. To review stock valuation figures,investigating and resolving any discrepancies or errors

3.5. Develop a sound knowledge of products supplied by the company

3.6. Review sales orders pick goods against the delivery note pack the goods in an
efficient and economical fashion , input the consignment information on to the
computerized system and ensure they are collected and booked by the carrier.

3.7.To provide cover for the sales dept. by serving customers in the Trade Counter
when required , taking orders , picking the goods and taking payment , for non -
account and retail customers

3.8.To provide cover in other Departments in the business when
numbers are reduced due to illness, annual leave or vacancies.

Responsibility for policy / service development

4.1.To support and implement new or updated stock initiatives, ensuring stock is
rotated properly and new products are correctly organized and located using the
computerized system.

4.2. Support the expansion of the Inventory Management across the company
and its various departments.

Management responsibility

5.1. This is an independent role for the successful candidate to manage their own time and duties and report matters and issues arising to the Senior Management.

5.2. Oversee the warehouse functions of all departments using the warehouse and
instruct staff in all areas of warehouse management.

Physical effort

6.1.Significant physical effort is required, including moving and lifting of goods
and equipment

Mental and emotional effort

7.1.Short to medium periods of concentration are required and an ability to deal
with conflicting priorities and distraction. This role requires a high level of mental arithmetic and logical thinking

Responsibility for R&D

8.1.Participate in the improvement of systems and management relating to
procurement, stock control and sales in accordance with the company 's
ISO 9001 quality assurance standards

General

To carry out such other duties within the Department as from time to time may be
required which are commensurate with the the post.
