We are currently looking for a Geotechnical Design Engineer to be based in Ashford Kent working for one of the UKs leading and well renowned Engineering Consultancies. You will work on a range of major schemes within infrastructure such as Rail, Highways and Marine, undertaking feasibility, outline and detailed design. This would be a technical position with the emphasis on Geotechnical Design in which you will have geotechnical input to projects which may include design of foundations, slopes, retaining walls etc. which is often as part of a wider site reclamation strategy.

Within the position you will undertake the civil design of foundations, slopes, retaining walls and many other geotechnical elements will also form a key aspect of the role, together with assessment of existing structures and design of remedial measures where appropriate, You will have to work closely with the civil project team to identify and communicate geotechnical requirements, so they are effectively incorporated into the project delivery

This could be an excellent opportunity for an Engineer or experienced Assistant Geotechnical Engineer with background in design working on Civil and Geotechnical schemes. As mentioned, this position is based in Ashford Kent, so could suit candidate from the surrounding areas such as Maidstone, Canterbury etc.

Job Requirements
• Typically, 4+ years’ experience with a proven track record in geotechnical design work and experience across a range of projects, ideally gained within a consulting environment.
• Proficient in geotechnical FEM software such as FREW, ALP, PILE, SLOPE and PDisp or similar
• Experience in design of deep/shallow foundations, piles, retaining walls, slope stability etc
