Contract: fixed term contract to end September 2023 (BID term)

Hours of work: 37.5 per week worked flexibly over five days but to include five hours per week worked on Saturday evenings. Occasional extra hours may be necessary.

About the role:
The One Maidstone Business Improvement District (BID) is a business led and funded body that seeks to make Maidstone an attractive place in which to live, work, visit and do business and does so though the delivery of the One Maidstone BID business plan. This post will give the successful applicant the chance to support a small, friendly team that works to benefit Maidstone town centre.

Job Purpose:
To support the BID team in delivering the BID Business Plan and its objectives. To provide assistance to the BID’s Soft Services Manager. To lend support to the town centre night time economy business community by being a visible presence across the BID boundary. Work with partner agencies, reporting anything that undermines the vibrancy and well-being of the town centre

Responsibilities and Duties include:
• Provide support in the monitoring of MaidSafe radios
• Day to day management of the Street Ambassador Project including management of rotas, analysis of body camera footage and line management of the team
• Be responsible for CSAS requirements
• Maintain the MaidSafe members radio inventory
• Visit member premises to obtain further details on incidents as and when required; including NTE businesses on Saturday evening shift
• Liaise with Police and Council Community Protection Teams
• Liaise with Council Cleansing Team
• Work closely with the Police Licensing Officer
• Liaise with night time economy door staff and venue management
• Promote MaidSafe, increasing membership levels where possible for full and associate membership
• Take admin lead on MaidSafe website, load incidents and manage public facing information
• Issue exclusion orders when required
• Create reports for MaidSafe and Street Ambassador activities
• Support the Soft Services Manager in the requirements of the BCRP accreditation scheme
• Support the company objective in increasing the profile of the ambassador scheme, crime reduction and safety and streetscene initiatives; work with the Marketing and Communications Manager in this area
• Provide relief ambassador cover on occasion if required
• Stewarding at events as and when required
• Undertake any other duties that may be considered commensurate with the role and support of the company objectives

• A confident, friendly demeanour
• An ability to be tactful and diplomatic
• Be approachable, listen carefully and deliver what is promised
• Be thorough, organised and show attention to detail
• Be accurate in the recording of incidents and information
• Have an interest in Maidstone’s community and be invested in measures taken to improve its appeal to residents, visitors and businesses
• Have an understanding and confidence in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Experience of maintaining and updating websites would be advantageous

Requirements:
• CSAS training may be provided
• Health and safety training and the ability to deliver training in this area would be advantageous
• DBS check
• Further Police vetting may be required
• Use of a body camera and One Maidstone uniform will be required when undertaking relief ambassador duties
