Job Purpose:
To advise management on and support the production of new and existing products and processes into the food manufacturing environment.
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
• Maximise machine utilisation (OEM) and identify cost reduction opportunities whilst maintaining high quality standards;
• Ensuring a maintenance programme to ensure good health of the plant ensuring minimal plant breakdown and loss of production;
• Troubleshooting various process issues as they arise;
• Implementation of quality management system in conjunction with Technical Department;
• To study existing and alternative production methods, regarding work flow, plant layout, types of machinery and cost; in order to recommend optimum equipment and layout;
• Devise and implement production control methods to monitor operational efficiency, while ensuring food safety standards are met;
• Investigate and eliminate potential hazards and bottlenecks in production;
• To advise management on and ensure effective implementation of new production methods, techniques and equipment to meet required quality standards;
• Liaise with materials buying, storing and controlling departments to ensure a steady flow of supplies;
• Undertake research and develops processes to achieve physical and/or chemical change for food products;
• Involved in the design, controlling and construction of process plants to manufacture products if the business requires;
• To protect the organisation’s value by keeping information confidential;
• Enhance organisational reputation;
• Any other reasonable duties associated with the role or projects assigned to meet the overall objectives of the role.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Experience within a manufacturing, production and quality engineering environment.
• In depth knowledge of ISO quality management system and auditing;
• 5 years or plus of experience in world class food manufacturing environment;
• Proven understanding of computerised manufacturing systems e.g. ERP and MRP;
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and processes;
• Relevant university degree;
• Food Technology qualification;
• Proven experience of working with HACCP compliance;
• Excellent Commercial & Numerical acumen;
• A good cross functional communicator;
• Strong organisational skills;
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills;
• A high level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
