The Research and Development department of Sekisui Diagnostics Uk Limited, situated in Allington, Maidstone, Kent are looking for a Part Time Lab Assistant ll reporting to the Senior Supervisor R & D (Upstream).

The successful candidate will need to be able to work as part of the team, making sure activities are carried out ready for the department to be able to perform their role efficiently; yet also able to perform independently when required. They will provide lab support functions. Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory levels for laboratory supplies. May also be assist with media and buffer preparation in the research and development area. Performs limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments.


Responsibilities:

May include some or all of the following:
• To be responsible for cleaning: thorough cleaning of safety cabinet, UV decontamination cycle and cleaning of all fermentation monitoring probes
• To be responsible for checks and logs of pH probes and response times, change of storage solutions
• To carry out in-use fermenter probe calibrations
• To carry out 2L or 10L fermenter washup
• To carry out general lab washup
• To be responsible for waste: fermenter liquid waste: decontaminated, logging and disposal, Lab biohazard waste: autoclaved and to clinical waste bins
• To be responsible for sterile setup of 2L or 10L fermenters as guided by SOP
• To be responsible for dispensing of chemicals from stock, transfer to laboratories
• To assist with preparation of media and buffer solutions under written instructions
• To be responsible for regular maintenance of laboratory stock levels of chemicals and consumables

The successful candidate will have as a minimum, GCSE to A level Qualifications (or equivalent), plus experience in following written procedures and a suitable amount of experience working within the lab environment.


3 days per week/21 hours per week.
