Contract length: 1 year fixed term
Closing date: 10th August 2020
Interview date: 18th August 2020
About us: Porchlight is a charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerable and isolated. At Porchlight, we are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.
The role:
You will work with people who have experienced homelessness and are now living in one of Porchlight’s ‘move-on’ properties (flats or shared houses which act as a stepping stone between hostels and independent living). You’ll provide support that will help them to overcome the trauma caused by homelessness and rebuild their lives. This could include help related to mental health and substance misuse, accessing benefits, getting into education or employment, and setting up home.
The role requires:
-Good communication and people skills
-Knowledge / experience of working with homeless or vulnerable people would be helpful, but candidates without this will still be considered (because training and support will be provided on the job)
-A full driving licence and access to a car (subject to the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Equality Act 2010).
Benefits: As a member of the Porchlight team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:
- Free life insurance
- Flexible working hours
- 25 days holiday per year (increasing to 30 days after 5 years service) pro rata
- Porchlight pension scheme
