As a maintenance engineer you will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery. Using computerised systems, where appropriate, you will oversee routine maintenance and organise repairs. You will also be involved with control and monitoring devices and occasionally in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance.
Your role is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of manufacturing and processing industries. Working with other professionals, you will improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns, and develop strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes.

• Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance
• Responding to breakdowns
• Diagnosing faults
• Repairing equipment
• Supervising engineering and technical staff
• Obtaining specialist components, fixtures, or fittings
• Managing budgets
• Maintaining statistical and financial records
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation
• Creating maintenance procedures
• Managing stocks of supplies and equipment
• Effectively manage all contractors working on site
