Immediate start in a small residential facility supporting adults with learning disabilities in New Romney

Support Worker - Adult Learning Disabilities
New Romney
Temporary ongoing
£10.09 per hour (inclusive of holiday)


Organisation/Company:
A well-known care organisation are seeking support workers in New Romney to work in one of their residential homes. The homely residential facility currently supports six adults with learning disabilities, their primary focus is to prepare and encourage individuals to live as independently as possible with the ultimate aim of enabling a move out to supported living facilities.

Role
They are currently looking for support workers with immediate availability and who are ideally signed up to the DBS update service as they are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
You will be required to encourage and support adults with learning disabilities to reach a level of independence. Individuals actively contribute to their own person-centred plan which must be encouraged. You must be prepared to deal with sometimes challenging behaviour.
Shifts can vary but currently we have availability for Long Days - 7am-10pm (15 hours). Earlies 7am-2:30pm (7.5 hours). Lates 2:30pm-10pm (7.5 hours).
This is for an immediate start and is likely to continue on an ongoing basis.

Skills/ experience required:

* For an immediate start to be possible you will ideally be signed up to the DBS update service
* A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years (Hays must gain references to cover this experience).
* Experience in assisting with medication, preparing meals and planning and partaking in activities
* Experience with providing support and care to adults with learning disabilities.
* NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 are desirable but not vital.
* The sensitivity required to provide a trusting and stimulating environment along with being passionate about supporting people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a good team player
* A genuine desire to make a real difference in people's lives
* You will be positive and willing to create and follow a personalised service to every individual that you support.
* Be available to support in whatever capacity is required by an individual to nurture their path to independence.
