Underwriting Manager - UK Commercial

In recent years through a strategic plan they have successfully expanded their broker partnership network and developed a vibrant cover holder / scheme business.
As a result of this ongoing impetus you will be joining an insurer that is growing revenue, introducing new product lines and increasing their market footprint.
Duties & responsibilities;
ï·Guide and review the improvement of underwriting policies & procedures to monitor compliance with underwriting standards and identify methodologies for improving controls and efficiencies
ï·Review and develops strategies for improving the underwriting results and increasing distribution of key
ï·Deal with package policies (including support the updating of coverage, policy wordings and literature and acceptance Rating Guidelines).
ï·Manage and maintain all the relevant Underwriting & Procedural guides (including Policy literature) and update Underwriting Guidelines for both Internal and Delegated Authority Schemes;
ï·Organise and monitor the Underwriting Audit function (including undertaking of audits and issuing of subsequent reports)
ï·Ensure good quality two-way communication between Underwriting Management and Claims Department, to identify adverse trends or technical aspects and necessitate changes to either policy or procedure by underwriting teams
ï·Support wording drafting and wording reviews as well as participate in product development as required
Essential experience, skills and knowledge;
ï·5+ years' experience in commercial "Package" insurance or property underwriting, with Property and Casualty knowledge
ï·Good knowledge of underwriting policies and procedures with first-hand experience of implementation of these
ï·Understanding of the impact and requirements of relevant regulatory bodies and legislation on insurance contracts
ï·Ability to think and act long term both strategically and operationally
ï·Ability to translate business requirements into underwriting guidelines
ï·Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while meeting meaningful deadlines
ï·Strong organization and administration skills
ï·Ability to influence areas outside immediate control
ï·Excellent interpersonal skills
ï·Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
ï·Good skills in MS office (Excel, Word, PPT) Outlook and internet applications
ï·Ideally, some experience of developing IT functionality within underwriting environment
ï·Ideally, ACII Chartered Insurer qualification
