HR Generalist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Generalist to join our Central Services team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual looking to gain some hands on experience in a thriving workplace which is continuously growing. The role covers full time hours 8.30 – 17.00 Monday to Friday and will be located at our head office in Canterbury. Based within our dedicated HR department, you will work closely with the team to ensure the firm is supported to the highest standard.
Direction Law currently employs in excess of 150 people over four sites; Canterbury, London, Wells and Birmingham. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting our very busy HR function as we continue to grow.
Main Duties Include:
- Managing the firms’ recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting adverts, assisting with interviews and the general hiring process.
- Creating and implement effective on boarding plans.
- Assisting with the HR self-service system and its maintenance.
- Acting as a first point of contact for general staff queries.
- Assisting with training and development programmes.
- Managing the annual performance review process.
- Assisting with the monthly payroll.
- Attending meetings as note taker.
- Working closely with the HR team to promote good HR practice across the business.
- Supporting improvements to HR efficiency and service.
- Other reasonable duties to support the Central Services team.
Person Specification:
To be successful in this role you will need to be highly organised but also adaptable in order to meet the needs of the business. You should be confident in effectively communicating with people face-to-face, on the telephone or by email, to build strong professional relationships.
You should be able to demonstrate good problem solving skills, with the ability to use your initiative appropriately and most importantly be a skilled multi-tasker.
It is important that the successful candidate is positive, good humoured and can adopt a professional approach at all times. There is no doubt that HR can often be challenging!
Key requirements:
To be considered for the role you should have worked in the HR environment in a role involving recruitment for a minimum of 12 months, preferably hold CIPD Level 3 and be thinking taking a further CIPD qualification to enhance your knowledge and skills. Previous experience in a professional services setting, such as a law firm or accountancy practice, would be an advantage but not essential. The ideal candidate will have good IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
