Are you interested in weekend and school holiday work on a casual ad hoc basis?

If so, joining our catering team at the Rare Breeds Centre (part of Canterbury Oast Trust) as a Restaurant Assistant may be the role for you.

We are looking to expand our current flexi bank team of Restaurant Assistants in readiness of the lockdown restrictions being lifted.

Shifts are normally between 4 - 6 hours and allocated on a monthly rota to cover weekends and our peak periods namely bank holidays and school holidays. Full training will be provided.

If this is you and you are a polite, courteous and helpful person with a caring manner please get in touch. This Restaurant Assistant role is located in The Granary Restaurant at The Rare Breeds Centre, Highlands Farm, Woodchurch.

You should be available to work during the weekends and school holidays.

THE RARE BREEDS CENTRE AND CANTERBURY OAST TRUST

The South of England Rare Breeds Centre (RBC) is a busy tourist attraction with more than 130,000 visitors last year. As part of Canterbury Oast Trust, The Rare Breeds Centre supports the work of the Trust. Canterbury Oast Trust provides high quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex.

The Granary Restaurant also provides valuable training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities enabling them to develop their hospitality and catering skills.

THE ROLE

As a Restaurant Assistant you will contribute to the smooth running of The Granary Restaurant and the catering outlets within the Rare Breeds Centre.

AS A RESTAURANT ASSISTANT YOU WILL:

o To greet customers in a pleasant and welcoming manner
o Take customer food orders out to tables
o To clear tables within the customer seating area
o Maintain the seating area to a high standard
o Undertake pot-washing duties
o Work alongside adults with learning disabilities as they develop their catering and customer service skills
o Process customer cash and card payments


This Restaurant Assistant post is offered on:

o A flexi (casual) contract
o Shifts that are offered are normally between four and six hours (predominantly on a Saturday and/or Sunday and will be allocated on a monthly rota basis)
o Additional shifts during the school holidays mainly Easter, Summer and the Half Term breaks may also be available
o You will be required to complete a e-learning training prior to any start date.

o A good standard of spoken English - for effective customer communication
o A good standard of numeracy - for processing customer orders and payments
o A good level of Employability skills - for prioritising workloads and working well under pressure


Personal qualities:

o Patient and calm under pressure
o To be considerate, supportive and be able to demonstrate compassion and empathy
o Self-motivated, enthusiastic and professional
o Work well within a team environment, while also use their own initiative
