Young Adult Carers Coordinator
  £18,000-£21,000

Do you want to make a difference now and for the future?

Are you confident, approachable, self-motivated and have a flexible attitude?

Then join our team supporting Young Adult Carers, aged 16-25 years, who have caring responsibilities for someone in their family due to disability, long-term illness, mental health, or drug or alcohol misuse. This role covers the Swale and north Kent areas so a car driver is essential.

Young Adult Carers have a lot going on in their lives. As well as caring, they are managing all the normal stresses of growing up… exams, friendships, relationships, work, money. They’re making decisions about key transitions… should I go to university?... get a job?... move out of home? These lead to concerns about who will look after the person they care for or guilt about leaving them. If they choose to stay at home and continue to care, there are additional challenges like applying for benefits or organising care packages.

As a coordinator, you’ll provide information and advice, emotional and practical support to guide the Young Adult Carers through these times. You might help them prepare for job interviews, advocate on their behalf to get additional support at college or university, or have difficult conversations with family members.

You’ll also provide opportunities for Young Adult Carers to meet each other at workshops and events, where they can share ideas and support each other as peers.

Make an impact. Be part of the solution.
