Community Learning Support Mentor - Fixed Term Contract (June 2022)

We are proud to be working in partnership with East Kent College on an exciting community funded project. We are recruiting 12 Community Learning Support Mentors covering the College's various sites throughout the County.

As a Community Learning Support Mentor you will be responsible for supporting a caseload of Community Renewal Fund project participants, providing intensive mentoring to overcome barriers preventing training and employment.

Providing a flexible, high quality service, working in partnership with communities and local agencies of support. Working as part of an integrated team supporting individuals with personal difficulties and holistic needs regarding accommodation, finance, health and wellbeing.

Travel will be required across the sites, as required, and to external stakeholders. Therefore, a driving licence is preferred but not essential.

This role is a fixed term contract - currently through to June 2022.

About You

We are seeking to appoint proactive candidates for the College's Adult team to assist in the delivery of a Community Renewal Fund project.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is committed to ensuring students are able to achieve and progress. You must have the ability to deal effectively with adult learners, relevant professionals (including external agencies) and referral partners, ensuring that all documentation and all contact interventions are recorded appropriately, following Safeguarding procedures where necessary.

The role can be challenging and requires the post holder to be empathetic and encouraging, whilst providing a supportive and non-judgemental environment, with experience in supporting adults with mental health difficulties being advantageous.

Excellent record keeping is essential for the role and competent computer skills are also required, with a knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. You will need to have a flexible approach to your work to respond receptively to changing duties and priorities. You will be assisting with the assessment of prospective participants for the project, offering appropriate information, advice and guidance whilst matching candidates to the right programmes of learning, identifying individual barriers and needs. And will be supporting participants in their personal development, empowering them to become independent learners, engaged in their community with the ability to obtain sustainable employment.

Salary: £19,633/annum pro rata



The role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
