Head Buyer

We are working with a leading manufacturing business that is seeking a Head Buyer to join their growing business.

As the Head Buyer, you will be the face of the company and responsible for building relationships with the suppliers and negotiating contracts.

While this will be office based Monday-Friday, there is international travel required.

Duties
*Overall responsibility for the team ensuring purchased goods, materials and components are in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
*Overseeing all supplier contacts and contracts, maintaining and improving relationships to ensure effective pricing and lead times
*Constant evaluation of suppliers in quality control ensuring all items meet the specs
*Sourcing new suppliers and providing pricing estimates to help plan overall costing sheets
*Regularly visiting suppliers both in the UK and internationally - is the face of the company
*Liaising with sales reps to ensure accurate forecasting, delivery and stock levels
*Overall responsibility for all stock control
*Communicate, monitor and advise on any supply problems which may impact the business
*Assist with setting up new depots for the business internationally
*Work with after-sales to reduce/eliminate any manufacturing problems

Requirements
*At least 5 years experience in Purchasing/Procurement role ideally from a manufacturing environment
*Previous experience in managing a team - balancing workloads, conducting a performance review, motivating and leading from the front
*A natural salesperson - Negotiating contracts with new and existing suppliers.
*Proven ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers
*Analytical, numerically minded and be able to demonstrate problem-solving abilities
*Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
*Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts product, manufacturing and customer fulfilment
*Confident at being a key player within the senior team
*Previous use of an MRP System and proficient in MS Office
