Trainee Underwriter - £25,000

CITY BASED

An established London Market specialist Lloyd's Coverholder and Managing Agency who are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Medical Malpractice underwriting team in the City of London.

Key Duties:

The successful candidate will be able to learn the fundamentals of underwriting whilst developing key business skills to allow them to succeed in this role.

* Assist senior Underwriters in the preparation of quotes and providing administration generally on accounts being considered
* Undertake due diligence on risks received including review of broker presentations, claims data and other information
* Respond to enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner and produce quotations within agreed authority parameters
* Assist with other administration and compliance support where necessary
* Set up and maintain client files to pre-agreed minimum standards
* Build and maintain broker relationships
* Attend client or broker meetings and functions
* Develop an in-depth understanding of our product offering
* Support, under the guidance of more senior staff, product launches and generally raise awareness of new and existing products to brokers
* Support and contribute to team projects;
* Conduct bespoke research for senior underwriters.

The successful candidate will be given opportunities to seek new business, develop existing relationships and renew existing cases and eventually become a specialist medical malpractice underwriter. In addition to on-the-job training, the successful candidate will also be supported through further educational studies via the Chartered Insurance Institute.

* Strong mathematical skill set
