QinetiQ Target Systems is a world-leading provider of unmanned air, land and surface targets for live-fire training and weapons system test and evaluation.

We are currently seeking to recruit a temporary Airframes Operative who would be responsible for constructing airframes, surface vessel targets and associated components from the QTS range of target types within a production environment.

The role will involve:

Manufacturing and assembling sub-assemblies and fitment of these into GRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic) target aircraft and boats.
Working from written instructions and drawings.
Working in co-operation with all departments in the production facility.
Maintaining a consistent standard of work and performance to satisfy the Company’s Quality Assurance standards.
Performing duties and additional tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor or his / her deputy.
Complying with company quality procedures.
Meeting weekly production targets.
Reporting of data for quality purposes.
Carrying out general housekeeping tasks
Continuous improvement to production methods.


Required skills:

Practical skills including working with hand tools
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
IT literate
Be able to work as part of a team
Ability to problem solve
Good attention to detail

It would be desirable to have:

Basic product knowledge of the QTS aerial target range
Experience of glass fibre lamination and processes
