FNH UK provides solutions for weapon design, production and mounting requirements for Infantry, AFV, and Naval platforms.

FNH UK originally traded as Manroy Engineering Limited which was formed in 1975 to support the spares requirements of the British Army.
Since July 2014 it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Belgium-based small arms manufacturer FN Herstal, S.A., in September 2017 the Company changed its name to FNH UK becoming more embedding into the Herstal Group of Companies.

The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible to co-ordinate all activities to direct and control manufacturing quality. The role reports to the FNH UK Quality Manager (QM).

Duties will include, but not limited to:

Quality Assurance:

• Continuously review quality processes, procedures, capabilities in order to sustain
the most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements
• Review and approve quality documentation to ensure their planned activities meet
the organisation and contractual requirements
• Lead the investigation of internal and external non-conformances ensuring and
implementing robust root cause analysis results and effective corrective actions /
opportunity for improvement.
• Ensure that all non-conformities are recorded and appropriately dealt with and
closed.
• Conduct and initiate internal audits and risk assessments in order to ensure
compliance with the Quality Management Systems.
• Responsible for supporting New Product Introduction and product development
programs
• Generate Coordinate Measuring Machine programs via on & offline programming
methodologies.
• Program changes (updates, improvements, and rework)
• Review of program output to ensure compliance to quality inspection requirements
• Lead the generation of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) for product
manufactured in-house.
• Continually develop & manage the ‘In-Process’ quality requirements of FNH UK
internal manufacture and assembly.

Resources Management:

• Liaise with both the Planning and Production departments to the timely Quality
Control of internal manufactured & assembled items.
• Lead and Supervise the Quality Control team effectively to meet the daily needs of
the business.
• Support the management of the Quality Control team, ensuring that their training
and coaching needs are effectively managed to support the completion of their
individual & team development goals.

Reporting:

• Monitor and report quality progress, reporting any issues arising
• Provide accurate and relevant information as required by the business

Additional duties:

• Responsible for supporting and maintenance of a customer focused and a Quality
culture within the organisation
• Support the development of quality goals and targets
• Lead internal and supplier audits in accordance with audit plan

Essential Skills:

• Degree in Mechanical and/or Production Engineering discipline with experience as
QA/QC Engineer
• Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings, including geometric
tolerances.
• Good experience in manufacturing methods and special processes such as
Surface treatment, Heat treatment, etc.
• Strong knowledge of all the aspects of metrology including CMM measurement.
• Strong knowledge of ‘First Principles’ of inspection.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Lead Quality auditor qualification
• Knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing
• Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs), Production Part Approval
Process (PPAP), Process Capability analysis (Cp, Cpk), Statistical Process Control
(SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis
(MSA).
• Strong Leadership and mentoring skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint

Hours : 37.5 per week
Days : Monday- Thursday 06:30 - 16:20 (currently trailing a four day week for remainder of the year)
Contractual Days will be Mon - Thu 07:30- 16:15 Friday 07:30-12:00
Holidays: 5 weeks per year plus Bank Holidays
Overtime: Time Half, Sunday and Bank Holidays Double Time
Pension: 3%
Life Ins: 2x

Annual Salary Review, Non Contractual Bonus dependant on sales
