About the role
We are currently recruiting a Buyer to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Purchasing Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target.

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will help to identifying the organisations purchasing needs, research, select and purchase quality products and materials to meet these needs and build relationships with suppliers in order to negotiate with them for the best price, quantities and delivery timescales.
Duties will include:
Processing MRP and requisitions and updating management on the status of orders
Updating inventory and managing stock levels
Arranging transport of goods and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
Understanding the target market and analysing trends in order to make informed buying decisions
Coordinating with Purchasing team, production management, and stores.
Monitoring the stock quality and escalating any discrepancies to suppliers and management
Order processing, subcontract works and purchase.
Check acknowledgements from suppliers.
Expedite and deal with enquires.
Maintain quality documents and procedures.
Data input and carry out production system maintenance.


What do I need?

You will need to have broad experience as a Buyer with a knowledge of direct, indirect and strategic buying. You’ll also need to have commercial awareness, be able to cope under pressure and have excellent interpersonal skills. CIPS / MCIPS would be an advantage but is not essential as evidence of appropriate experience and continuous improvement will be considered.
