Set in beautiful extensive grounds in the village of Hawkhurst in Kent, Marlborough House is a country Prep School for 2 ½ to 13-year-old boys and girls with a distinctly family feel; small enough for everyone to be known and cared for whilst still being bold and ambitious for the future.

Marlborough House consists of a Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep school and we offer midweek boarding where children can stay on one or more regular nights a week. The School is committed to providing freshly cooked, healthy food, locally sourced where possible, for children and staff.

About the role

We are seeking a catering assistant with a positive and enthusiastic approach, and a pride in their work, to join our friendly catering team.

You will undertake general duties within the catering department; previous experience of working in a similar catering environment is desirable, but not essential.

The team in the kitchen is headed up by a Chef Manager who leads a team of designated cooks and catering assistants. The catering assistants are responsible for food preparation, hygiene, service and cleaning. The school provides breakfast for boarders, lunch for staff (up to 100 per day) and pupils in three sittings, and supper for boarders and pupils staying for after school clubs. The kitchen also caters for match teas, school meetings and functions as required.

The hours of work will be 8.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday during term-time, plus one week at the end of each term for deep cleaning.

There will be breaks for lunch and tea (which are provided). Further additional hours may occasionally be required for functions. Any changes to hours, which may be necessary from time to time, will always be agreed with as much notice as possible.

Salary will be paid equally over 12 months.

All staff at Marlborough House School have an important role to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All staff at the school are subject to a full DBS check.
