Peripatetic Teacher of Singing, Ashford School
Required for September 2025
Are you an enthusiastic Peripatetic Music Teacher able to inspire and nurture the musical needs of keen, young musicians? Ashford School are looking for a Teacher of Singing who can support and promote our pupils to advance musically.
Key responsibilities:
• To provide a full learning experience to enable pupils to progress in their skills and their appreciation of music.
• To be committed to raising standards of achievement whilst delivering lessons appropriate to the age and standard of the pupils allocated.
• To communicate effectively with pupils, school staff and parents / carers of students.
• To share and support the school’s aim to Inspire Minds.
• To fully plan and prepare pupils for examinations when required as well as performances and auditions as appropriate
• To encourage the move back to face to face examinations
• Ensuring up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements
• Assessing pupils’ abilities, providing feedback and writing reports
• To help and/or arrange recitals and concerts for pupils' families and friends with additional rehearsals where necessary
• To aid the Director of Music in concert preparation and rehearsal
• To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of pupils and to keep accurate records as required.
• To maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of performance.
• To advise and encourage pupils to take advantage of appropriate musical activities such as choirs, ensembles, competitions and other musical opportunities.
• To be aware of the individual needs of pupils, liaising with the Director of Music, teachers and parents as appropriate.
• To help implement school quality control systems, procedures and policies and adhere to these.
• To be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young children.
• To contribute to the creation of a positive school ethos in which every individual is treated with dignity and respect.
