A last-minute opportunity has become available for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 student with ASD at a welcoming, community-driven primary school. Starting in September 2025, this role is initially for Term 1, with strong potential to extend for the right candidate. This one-form entry school takes pride in celebrating individuality and broad learning, placing equal value on curriculum progress and the personal development of every child. This is a school that celebrates each child’s unique potential—from swimming and karate to art and gardening. And as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll help your student and class celebrate each other’s individual successes too.  You will help a bright and engaging child settle and thrive in their learning journey, with a focus on inclusion and well-being.

1:1 Teaching Assistant responsibilities:


Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with autism (ASD)Promote independence, emotional regulation, and communication developmentCollaborate with class teacher and SENCO to implement and adapt learning strategiesSupport the pupil’s integration into the wider school community and group activitiesUse patience, empathy and consistency to build trust and routine
1:1 Teaching Assistant requirements:


Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly ASDStrong understanding of how to support early years or KS1 developmentPositive, proactive and nurturing attitudeWillingness to be part of a close-knit school communityEnhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
