Your new company
I've partnered with a specialist software provider to recruit a Systems Administrator for their modern head office just outside Southampton, with a minimum on-site presence of three days per week. It's a fantastic opportunity to join a company that's seen impressive growth in recent years, following multiple acquisitions. They're now expanding their UK Infrastructure team to support a multi-year modernisation programme - making this a great time to get involved.
Your new role
As a Windows Server Systems Administrator, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability and performance of the company's infrastructure. You'll be part of a 24/7 production environment, supporting a range of systems and applications, and handling tasks such as managing Windows Server environments, DNS, FTP, IIS, and mail services. Your responsibilities will also include physical data centre work like cabling and racking, participating in the on-call rotation, and ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and leadership. This role has been created due to team growth and new client wins, offering a great opportunity to make an impact.
What you'll need to succeed
* Solid understanding of networking basics
* Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
* Familiarity with Windows Clustering for high availability
* Hands-on experience with backup solutions (Veeam preferred)
* Experience managing SAN storage (setup and monitoring)
* Working knowledge of WSUS (Windows Server Update Services)
* Basic SQL Server skills (monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance)
* Experience with Windows Certificate Management (nice to have)
* Ability to write and troubleshoot PowerShell scripts
* Good understanding of switch configuration and firewall rules
* Experience with Barracuda products (Load Balancer, WAF, NextGen Firewall) is a big plus.
* Cisco ASA firewall experience is a bonus.
What you'll get in return
The company offers great flexibility across the board, with a culture that values trust - no micromanagement here. They're looking for someone who's genuinely invested in their mission, and in return, your efforts will have a real impact, even on an international scale.
They're a supportive employer, happy to fund courses, qualifications, and conferences to help you grow your skill set. On top of that, there's a generous benefits package including private healthcare, dental cover, a solid holiday allowance, and more.
