Technical Claims Handler

Due to continued growth, my client is looking to appoint a Technical Claims Handler to join their friendly and knowledgeable Customer Services team in a newly created role based in Edenbridge, Kent.
The Role:
As a Technical Claims Handler, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding customer experience. You will manage a caseload of latent defect insurance claims, ensuring that every claim is handled promptly, fairly, and in accordance with regulatory and internal standards. Working closely with underwriters, insurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders, you'll bring a strategic mindset and strong technical skills to each case.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a caseload of claims in line with internal procedures and service standards
• Take first notification of loss from policyholders and acknowledge promptly
• Conduct initial investigations and gather evidence efficiently
• Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, and other professionals, providing clear and informed referrals
• Assess coverage accurately and ensure all claims are processed with fairness and integrity
• Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure a seamless customer journey
• Provide timely and informative updates and reports to management and stakeholders
• Maintain full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FCA standards and Consumer Duty principles
Training & Development:
My client is committed to supporting professional growth. You will be encouraged to undertake insurance and construction-related training, and supported in working towards further industry qualifications such as CII or CILA.
What We’re Looking For:
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in claims handling within property insurance or a transferable role (e.g., loss adjusting)
• Progress toward or completion of CII/CILA qualifications
• Understanding of latent defect insurance or property claims
• Familiarity with FCA-regulated environments and standards, including Consumer Duty and vulnerable customer identification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence effectively
• Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• High attention to detail with an ability to manage workload under pressure
• A customer-first attitude, with commercial awareness and adaptability
