Your new role
As Design Manager, you'll work within a small experienced team reporting directly to the Construction Director. You'll play a key role in both pre- and post-contract stages, with a particular focus on Stage 2 tenders. You'll be instrumental in managing the design process to meet client requirements while ensuring commercial viability and buildability.

Key Responsibilities:

Review employer requirements and performance specifications for accuracy and risk
Support the commercial team with contractor's bills of quantities and subcontractor packages
Prepare contractor proposals and obtain quotes
Manage design programmes, approvals, and statutory compliance
Oversee consultant appointments and day-to-day coordination
Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure best-in-class detailing

What you'll need to succeed
A strong background of working as a design manager for a main contractor is essential. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, but a solid understanding of construction processes and project delivery is essential. You'll need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in managing external consultants and internal stakeholders alike. A relevant degree or HNC/HND equivalent is highly desirable.
