We’re seeking a motivated graduate to join our team and learn the full design and estimation process for air handling unit projects, with structured progression opportunities as your competence grows.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Rochester with flexibility on start/finish times by agreement.

What You’ll Do
• Assist experienced engineers with designing, costing, and quoting
• Produce CAD layouts of AHU configurations and component selections
• Ensure AHU designs and costings meet technical specifications and budget requirements
• Work with suppliers to understand pricing strategies, cost reduction, and value engineering
• Prepare technical specifications and quote documentation
• Gain insight into commercial aspects of tendering and estimating

What You’ll Learn
• Dimensioning and drawing air handling unit components using CAD
• Selection and understanding of AHU types and components: fans, coils, heat exchangers, dampers, filters, controls, condensing units
• Use of costing software and quote documentation
• How to liaise with suppliers and production teams to support design decisions
• Industry standards, building regulations, and compliance guides

• Recent graduate in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and creative
• Keen to develop practical skills in building services engineering
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills

Progression & Future Opportunities

This is a structured graduate role with increasing responsibility as your competence grows. Your 6-12 month salary reviews are linked to progress against agreed milestones, such as design and selection capability, component knowledge, and your ability to compile accurate quote packs.

Over time, there are opportunities to progress into areas such as Design & Estimating / Applications Engineering (owning quotes and selections end-to-end), technical estimating specialism (complex selections, compliance and value engineering), technical proposals/tender leadership supporting the sales team, and product or cost optimisation projects linked to suppliers and manufacturing.

Employment Type: Full-time – Office-based, flexible start/finish times by agreement
Work Location: Pharaoh House, Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent (free parking available)
Starting Salary: £25,000-£28,000 per annum
