A highly respected refurbishment contractor seek and experienced Materials Buyer for their Kent-based head office on a permanent basis.With a trading history spanning almost a century, our client has built an exceptional reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment, restoration and fit-out projects across London and the South East. Working closely with consultants, local authorities, Architects and commercial clients, they undertake a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial, educational and public sector environments. The business is renowned for its commitment to quality, safety and long-term client relationships.
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially-minded materials Buyer to join their established team.

Your new role
As Materials Buyer, you will take responsibility for procuring materials across multiple refurbishment and construction projects, ensuring products are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively and delivered in line with project programmes.
Key responsibilities include:

- Managing supplier relationships to maintain exceptional service levels.
- Negotiating prices, rebates and purchasing agreements to achieve best value.
- Monitoring supplier lead times to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials.
- Raising accurate purchase orders and maintaining procurement records.
- Resolving supply chain issues and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
- Identifying and implementing supply chain improvements to increase efficiency.
- Monitoring supplier performance against agreed service levels.
- Processing and allocating invoices in collaboration with operational and commercial teams.
- Organising deliveries to site in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Supporting multiple live projects and reacting to changing site requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Buyer with a proactive and organised approach to purchasing within a construction environment. Previous experience of working as a buyer within a main contractor or similar is essential.
You will possess:
- Previous experience as a Buyer, Materials Buyer or Procurement Specialist.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Construction industry experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Good Microsoft Office and IT skills
