The Community Learning Disability Team is part of the Lifespan Pathway and supports people aged over 26 with a learning disability. We are unique in Kent in that we already work in an Alliance with our NHS colleagues. In practice, this means that we work in integrated teams to intervene and deliver care and treatment quickly and effectively to those who need it most.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the South Kent Coast and Thanet A, Integrated Community Learning Disability Team (26+), for a Safeguarding Adults at Risk Coordinator, to act as a lead for safeguarding.
You will be responsible for coordinating the safeguarding process and acting as the Designated Senior Officer for all safeguarding concerns. You will be expected work closely with the Team Manager to triage safeguarding concerns and promote quality improvement for service providers. There is an expectation that you will develop and support good practice, and work to a high standard.
You must be able to chair multi agency case conferences and work collaboratively with several partner agencies work as well as working proactively with other agencies to develop their learning of Safeguarding. This is central to our work practice.
You may also be required to undertake complex investigations in exceptional circumstances and there will be a requirement for you to support the other Learning Disability Safeguarding Adults at Risk Coordinators countywide when the need arises.
You will be a registered Social Worker and will need to demonstrate at interview that you are competent to work at the advanced level of the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. Successful candidates will either have already completed KCC’s Social Care Capability Framework advanced portfolio or sign up to complete it in their first nine months in post.
You will need to have a high level of knowledge and experience of complex casework including an excellent understanding of the Kent and Medway Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act, as well as experience of undertaking the Designated Senior Officer role.
A good working knowledge of IT systems and data systems is required to fulfil the requirements of this post. In return full training will be provided alongside regular supervision and the support of committed members of the team.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
