About the role



We are currently recruiting for an Assembly Operative to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Production Team. QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.



QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.



What will I be doing?



Reporting to the Airframes and Engine Bay Supervisor, you will be responsible for the manufacture of aerial and marine targets, with the assembly of engines and associated sub-assemblies from the QinetiQ range of targets within production.


Duties will include:



Assemble aerial and marine targets, as required to meet business demand
Assemble engines and all associated sub-assemblies
Ability to work from written instructions and drawings where applicable
To work collaboratively with all supporting departments
Maintain a consistent standard of work and performance to satisfy the Company’s Quality Assurance standards
Assist in meeting the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and weekly production plans
Participate in departmental daily layered accountability (DLA) meetings, to collate meaningful improvement metric data, and take lead in driving for improvements
To effectively collaborate with all business support functions
Continuous improvement activities


What do I need?



We ask that you have experience of working in a manufacturing environment and are qualified to GCSE, or equivalent level, in maths and English.



You’ll have the ability to problem solve and be an excellent team player.



We also ask that you have:



good practical skills, including the use of basic hand tools
previous mechanical ‘hands on’ knowledge
Good computer skills
Work unsupervised and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
Basic product knowledge
