Join Our Reception Administrator Team – Estates and Facilities
Background of department/role
The Department is responsible for developing and maintaining the University estate and facilities services.
The Reception Administrator Team have an integral role as being first point of contact and providing a positive and professional first impression to our visitors, students and our staff.
We're looking for a welcoming and organised individual to join our Reception Administrator Team, part of the Estates and Facilities department. This team is the first point of contact for many visitors, staff, and students—playing a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive, and professional experience across our university campuses.
As a Reception Administrator, you’ll help maintain a friendly and supportive reception service, operate the University’s switchboard, and manage a range of administrative tasks that keep our campuses running smoothly. You’ll also assist with tasks like processing smartcard and parking permit applications, responding to email and phone enquiries, logging maintenance requests, and supporting campus events.
This is a varied role that would suit someone with strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to stay calm and efficient in a busy environment. You’ll work across different locations within Canterbury, so flexibility and teamwork are key.
What we’re looking for:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (grades A–C)
Experience in a customer-facing or administrative role
A helpful attitude and ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Comfortable using standard digital systems and maintaining accurate records
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. The role also involves working across multiple buildings within our local campus/area. As such, the successful candidate will need to be comfortable moving between sites as part of their daily duties. How will you work?
12.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 12.00-14.30).
These hours are essential and cannot be adjusted.
